Young Life

McKinney YoungLife’s focus is to reach every kid, everywhere, for eternity. YoungLife is a non-denominational Christian outreach ministry that reaches out to lost high school kids for the gospel. We want to give hope to kids who live in a world of rejection, impossible standards, and hopeless dreams.  Five years ago a group of people wanted to bring YoungLife to McKinney and had big dreams to do so. That first summer twelve high school kids who had never heard about YoungLife went to a summer camp called Frontier Ranch in Colorado. Those high school kids had the opportunity to experience one of the best weeks of their life and some even met Christ for the first time. Little did they know but they were quickly becoming the building blocks of this young ministry.  Four years later there are now four separate ministries reaching out to kids in McKinney: MHS YoungLife, North YoungLife, Boyd YoungLife and Capernaum YoungLife.

Volunteer Leaders:

Volunteer leaders are the foundation of the ministry. Leaders are committed to being involved with kids' lives -- from supporting them at their sporting events to listening to them talk about what's important to them. Our leaders help kids consider the direction of their lives, and they offer hope for their future. Over thirty volunteer leaders are involved weekly in McKinney YoungLife to reaching out to kids for Christ.

Committee:

If volunteer leaders are the foundation of the ministry then the committee is the backbone. The YoungLife committee implements and maintains the ministry of Young Life in the community. They work in partnership with the area and regional Young Life staff by sharing ideas and providing counsel and prayer support. The committee helps the staff plan the local Young Life program and develop new places of outreach. One of the biggest roles of the committee is that it takes ownership for having Young Life in the community, and organizes a strong financial foundation to sustain local work with kids.

There are 4 “C’s” to YoungLife:

Club – Is what we call our weekly Monday night meetings. These Monday night meetings meet almost every Monday throughout the school year. Club usually lasts for an hour and each ministry meets at different times on Mondays.

Campaigners – This is our small group for kids who want to go deeper with their YoungLife leader. Campaigners meet weekly and places and time vary.

Camp – YoungLife camp is touted as the “best week of kids’ lives”. McKinney YoungLife goes to Colorado each year to either Frontier Ranch or Crooked Creek.
Contact Work (leaders) – leaders are the foundation of the ministry. They go where kids are at…whether that’s football games, baseball games, etc.

Houses of Hope
We are a church that believes God’s reach goes beyond national borders and extends into the lives of those living around the world. We encourage our church body to be apart of our mission trips to expand their love, knowledge and compassion for God’s people. These trips are opportunities to bring the gospel to the nations and to serve alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ internationally.

House of Hope in Zacapa, Guatemala provides homes for abandoned or orphaned children and a school for the local community. Houses of Hope International is a unique faith based orphanage program that has the philosophy of providing both a mother and father in each home to foster an environment of love, guidance and education for every child.

This summer we brought of a team together to serve with House of Hope to be the hands and feet of Jesus to orphans, families and villagers living in Guatemala. Why did we choose to serve with House of Hope in Zacapa, Guatemala? This area is poverty-stricken and leaves abandoned and orphaned children with little hope for much success growing up. There is an estimated 5,000 murders per year in this country and drug trafficking is rampant. We believe that there is a big need to love and serve those in Guatemala, especially the children and youth. We wanted to help our brothers and sisters in Christ with their mission and vision at House of Hope by serving the orphans and the community.

While serving in Guatemala we brought a medical missions team to distribute medications and prescription reading glasses. We provided children and villagers with donated clothing, shoes, toiletries and food. Shared the gospel through drama to kids in local schools. We painted both a church built by House of Hope and a House of Hope school and dug a trench for electricity improvements. Our team also had the privilege of clearing a piece of land within the House Of Hope complex that will be used to build another House of Hope home!
This mission trip was a life changing experience for every team member. Everywhere we went the children and local villagers were so thankful for our service. Our team kept strong and unified throughout the trip through prayer and the encouragement of one another!

Men's Ministry
Men's Fraternity

The men of Faith Bible Church are currently on small break but will begin another study in a few weeks.

Jr./Sr. High

meetingLeaders involved with the Youth Ministry at Faith Bible Church seek to meet Jr. High and High School students on their turf. We believe in not only teaching, but showing them God's love. Students will see leaders showing up at school lunches, cheering them on at sporting events, and congratulating them after their concerts and other extracurricular activities! We want to partner with parents in reaching their kids for Christ by providing fun and safe activities such as annual ski trips, ice blocking, and BBQ's. Also by allowing opportunties for students to grow deeper and ask questions through small groups and weekly youth group meetings.  We also want to help provide parents with as many resources as possible to encourage and teach their youth about Christ. We operate under the same mission as the entire Faith Bible Church body, We live to love Christ, love others, and train others to do the same.

Jr. High Youth Group meets every Sunday night at 5:15 pm to 6:30 pm at the home of Chris and Annamarie Jamison (Chris is the Director of Student Ministries).

High School Youth Group meets every Sunday night at 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm at the home of Chris and Annamarie Jamison (Chris is the Director of Student Ministries).
